ISRAEL SEEKS NO AMERICAN BLOOD IN ITS DEFENSE, ONLY ITS REAL TREASURE

On February 15, 1945, FDR met with Abdul Aziz (Ibn Saud), then King of Saudi Arabia, to discuss with him the future of The UN Palestine mandate which was granted to the Brits by the UN after the Allied victory in WWI. Some victory… Great prize.
After the "Great War", the Allied "Victors" were every bit as bloodied as their vanquished adversaries, save the United States, who emerged as the last man standing on two legs. That War made clear that the United States of America was now the indispensable player on the world stage. Accordingly, the foolishly impractical, generally racist 28th President of The United States, Woodrow Wilson, had much to say about how the post-war world would look, at least on paper. Hence the punch drunk nearly destroyed Britain through a League of Nations mandate got to rule "Palestine" which had been a possession of the Ottoman Empire for almost 400 years. The Brits learned quickly that this newfound guardianship was no prize.
Twenty-Seven Years later after the Allied victory over Hitler in World War II, the question remained as to what would happen with the British Mandate over "Palestine".
Abdul Aziz in his discussions with FDR was perfectly candid. He informed FDR, that it would be a bloodbath for the Jews if there was there any attempt to carve out a Jewish State in “Palestine” which was then a territory, not a Nation.
FDR, as always, threw the King a Hail Mary and promised that US policy would not allow that to happen without the consultation and permission of the Arabs. After the war, the issue was heavily debated in the new world body, known as The United Nations, and on November 29, 1947, through UN Resolution 181, The Palestine Partition was voted into existence dividing the territory of The Palestine Mandate into two distinct national zones. These zones would become the State of Israel, and the Arab Nation of Jordan.
All of the then Arab States and the "Arab League" voted against the resolution, and vowed violent resistance committing themselves to the destruction of the Jewish State with all of their resources and by any means necessary. You've got to give them credit, for once the Arabs kept their word.
Upon the Death of FDR, President Harry Truman became the decision-maker as to whether or not the US would vote yes to resolution 181 in support of the Partition giving rise to a Jewish State. Contrary to popular opinion, Truman was tepid and undecided about the US vote until the very last minute despite the crocodile tears of his friend and former Jewish haberdashery partner Eddie Jacobson. General George Marshall, then-Secretary of State, opposed the idea. Truman who revered Marshall needed to win the State of New York in the 1948 election. The Jewish vote was critical, hence there were other influences that compelled Truman to cast a “yea” vote for the Stars and Stripes.
On May 14, 1948, Israel declared its independence naming the Jewish State, the State of Israel. True to their sacred vow, the Arabs attacked Israel with five armies. Somehow instead of being stillborn, Israel survived and she has been fighting for her life every day ever since.
Since the establishment of the State of Israel, there is something that I have never seen recognized, much less discussed: I believe Israel to be the only steadfast, and dependable ally that America has in the world.
The time has come for America to ask itself: Who are America’s Allies?
The predictable response would be all of those who during the post-WWII era we have come to call allies. That has become a foolish, outmoded, and nostalgic notion. England? France? Canada? Germany? Japan?
Our traditional allies have become our sometimes allies. They are all addicted to the entitlement umbrella of US Defense without cost, even though their nations have become monumentally prosperous. This entitlement is accompanied by the manifest expectation that the US will shed blood and treasure for them, should the need arise. The most obvious is the defense of Western Europe which remains intact today, along with South Korea, and Japan.
Those nations have it baked into their entitlement, that if they were to be attacked, the US would send its men and material to shed blood and die for their survival.
There is only one nation in the world who, despite its 73-year fight for national survival, has never requested that a single drop of American blood be shed in its defense. That Nation is the State of Israel. There is no other Nation amongst our "allies" who can credibility make the claim that they would not expect America to send its military to the battlefield in their defense.
There is ubiquitous chatter in the air regarding ...We need to restore the confidence of our allies... …Our allies don't respect us... …Trump destroyed our relationships with our allies…
As Americans, we need to ask ourselves: Who are our real allies?
It is clear that we have many “sometimes” allies, but only one “always” ally, and that is Israel.
They have never asked us to shed a drop of American blood, even when the Jewish State was on the precipice of destruction as it has so many times since 1948.
As for the Treasure, certainly, Israel has been on the receiving end of generous American largesse, however, the economic exchange between our two nations has become a mutually beneficial two-way street. But the real Treasure to Israel and one that she demonstrably values by example is our reciprocal commitment to Freedom, Justice, and Democracy.
Can our “sometimes” allies make the same claims about American Blood and Treasure? I think not.
