LAW SCHOOL SAVAGES: STANFORD INDIANS (1930-1972), STANFORD CARDINALS (1981-2023), STANFORD SAVAGES (March 9, 2023-?)
Vol. II | Issue. 152 | March 16, 2023
Stanford University, founded in 1891, is arguably (all things considered) the finest and most “elite” University in America. Stanford, in addition to having perhaps the most “elite” and selective undergraduate program in America, has almost every one of its graduate and professional schools in the Top 10 rankings, most in the Top 5. Stanford has also won 131 NCAA Championships in its relatively short history. By relatively short, I mean that Harvard was founded in 1636, Yale in 1701, and most of the Ivy’s were founded 50 to 100 years before.
From 1930 through 1972, the Stanford mascot was the Stanford University Indian. On November 17, 1981, the Stanford Indian became the Stanford Cardinal. We don't need to debate the rationale for that change… We all know how Universities and other institutions, including but not limited to professional sports teams, have been forced to dump those sometimes century-plus Native American names that they were so identified with for those which are much less controversial. The sick thinking about the current American ethos of victimhood will likely cause the American bird protection "community" to change the Stanford Cardinal designation to something less offensive than the reference to one of the school colors and the State Bird of Illinois. However, if the Stanford Cardinal were still the Stanford Indian, there would need to be a special designation for a portion of the student body at Stanford Law School… It would be my choice the designate them as “The Stanford Savages”.
Last Thursday, March 9, U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Stuart Kyle Duncan was invited to speak at Stanford Law School for an event hosted by the Stanford Federalist Society. Judge Duncan, like virtually every other Conservative speaker on the American College Campus, was stopped dead in his tracks by the same death to free speech weapon that has become almost universal among the fascist rabble of "The Religious Left".
As broadly construed, The Religious Left, includes all groups and individuals who align themselves with the New Leftist Religions of Wokeism, Radical Environmentalism, and Identity Politics. They have branched off from the traditional Judeo-Christian religions and abandoned the core principles of their faith to join and promulgate the insanity of the Left. The Stanford Law Student brand of Academic Savages comes from the same walk of The Religious Left insanity, but all have one thing in common: They don’t believe in the First Amendment or Free Speech in any meaningful form. This is especially, if a speaker veers, in any way, from their psychotic Leftist orthodoxy regarding their view of the world.
Judge Duncan was thwarted by dozens of protesters who attended the event to heckle him and shouted him down because he was an appointee of President Trump. Stanford University calls Freedom of Speech “core to the mission and academic life of our university” and bars disrupting university events.
When the Law School Associate Dean for “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion”, Tirien Steinbach, was called in to restore order and let the Judge speak, this administrative imbecile refused to do so and delivered her prepared remarks praising the hecklers and suggested Stanford may need to rethink its stance on "protecting speech that upsets students”.
After these sickening events, Judge Duncan labeled the University's handling of the event a "setup” because Steinbach had her (maybe their) printed “hate the judge” speech prepared. The morning of the event, Dean Steinbach, emailed the Stanford Law Community reiterating student criticisms of the event, reminding students of the school’s free speech policies, but saying the event would be a “significant hit” to students’ sense of belonging.
Upon receipt of the email, the Stanford Savages gathered with their Religious Left teammates to attend the event to stage their Heckler’s Veto with the intention of preventing Judge Duncan from speaking, which they did, and with the hopeful addition to their mission of humiliating him, which they did not.
The Heckler’s Veto of the Stanford Savages knocked Judge Duncan as he attempted to give his prepared remarks. He was loudly peppered with yelling, forcing the reorganization of Judge Duncan’s topic to the noxious (and obnoxious) Q&A agenda of the Stanford Savages relating to their LBGT Radical Environmental Woke inanities. Federal marshals later escorted Duncan out, saying they were there to protect him.
On the evening of March 10, Stanford's President issued an apology, in the boilerplate cliché, regarding Stanford's “belief in the sanctity of Free Speech”, but took no action to fire the Dean for playing a crucial role in organizing and facilitating the orgy of the Stanford Savages and their Heckler’s Veto of Federal Judge Duncan’s speech.
In 1964, Governor Ronald Reagan quickly shut down early activists taking early inmates taking over the asylum protest when UC Berkley caved into student demands and occupied the admissions building at that University. Reagan at that time chastised the faculty and administration for caving into the student demands, reminding them of their responsibilities and authority to run the University, keep order, and make certain that while the Students had the right to have their grievances heard, they had no right to occupy or otherwise take over University property, threatening expulsion if they did so.
Yes, that was a different time and place in America, but how did we get from there to here?
It’s simple… Our educational institutions have abandoned their bedrock mission of creating an environment that protects the sanctity of Free Speech guaranteed by the First Amendment by sacrificing that sacred right to the disruption, violence, and threats carried out by the campus shock troops of The Religious Left who in this case were the Academic Savages of Stanford’s Law School Student body.
We are currently in a very dangerous place in American history... Will we allow the “Hate-America” culture and The Religious Left to destroy our Academic Freedom and First Amendment Rights?
The Stanford Savages are merely the most recent example, but some version of this is happening on the American University Campuses almost every day.
It seems to me that the new rallying cry at Stanford will no longer be “Go Cardinal!”… Someday soon, it may be “GO SAVAGES!”
