THE GATHERING STORM
Vol. III | Issue. 362 | June 22, 2026
The Gathering Storm was the first volume of Winston Churchill’s epic history of World War II. This volume traces and outlines all the destructively discordant forces forming in the geopolitical atmosphere, which gained force and fury and were eventually released against Europe and England, culminating in the Second World War.
Churchill, to my mind the greatest statesman of the 20th century, was a backbencher in Parliament on the eve of the war, despite having served as First Lord of the Admiralty and Secretary of the Exchequer during the First World War.
As First Lord of the Admiralty, Churchill was the architect of the disastrous Gallipoli Campaign, which resulted in England and the Allies being routed with casualties. While it is debatable as to whether Churchill should have been shouldered with the blame for that campaign rather than inadequate support from the Admiralty, Churchill took personal responsibility for the disaster, resigned from office, and went to war with the British Army on the Western Front as an infantry captain, putting himself very much in harm’s way.
During the interwar years, Churchill was a prolific author and journalist. Sir Winston was brave, brilliant, and extravagant to the point that his luxurious lifestyle often brought him to the brink of financial ruin. However, there is one thing Churchill always did: He kept his eye on the wrecking ball of world events.
Churchill, once relegated to the back benches of Parliament, tracked Hitler and his Nazi movement from its early fledgling beginnings to his very early recognition of the fact that that piece of human filth had to be stopped.
Churchill knew that Hitler, taking advantage of Germany’s dire economic straits and the worldwide depression, which hit Germany perhaps worse than any other nation due to the reparations required by the Treaty of Versailles, would catapult him to the Chancellorship of the Reichstag and ultimately become the lord and evil master of the Huns.
Churchill’s “Gathering Storm” recognized not only the rise of Hitler as a factor, but also the Fifth Column within England itself, filled with Communists, pro-Nazi appeasers, and the general rot of the British upper class that made them not want to gear up for the war Churchill knew to be inevitable.
Churchill was prescient, and the rest is truly history.
After Chamberlain’s sick white-flag “Peace in our Time” surrender to Hitler, Churchill stated that “You were given the choice between war and dishonour. You chose dishonour, and you will have war.” Needless to say, he was right.
We are now at a substantially similar critical juncture.
America now has an internal Fifth Column comprised of those who hate this country and who are being elected to some of the most important political offices in the land.
They come from foreign strains and philosophies that have taken root on American soil over the past several decades and are now germinating into a powerful political force. They are strange bedfellows indeed, but they have a single common goal, and that is the destruction of America, Israel, and Western civilization.
And who are these rotten weeds of destruction? They are the Communists traveling under the phony, slightly less threatening label of “Democratic Socialists” and the Islamo-Nazis. The Communists are by definition an atheist lot, while the Islamo-Nazis are fanatical adherents to Islam.
Whether it is the Islamo-Nazi Zoran Mamdani of New York, Nazi sexter Graham Platner, or the other candidates either running for or being elected to office at every level, both locally and nationally, they have become a successfully domesticated America-hating force in culture, politics, academia, and every walk of American life.
On the political front, we now have an administration that has publicly blamed Israel, America’s only “Always Ally,” for blowing up what appears to be a “peace” deal to end the war in Iran. The deal that will make America’s most implacable Islamo-Nazi enemy more powerful than ever.
Vice President J.D. Vance, with the obvious approval of the White House, has chastised Israel for screwing up this “peace” deal. That would be like FDR making peace with Nazi Germany and demanding that England not defend herself against the Nazi Blitz during the bombing of London.
What, at least for now, appears to be this administration’s plan for peace by appeasing an implacable enemy, while blaming your closest ally who is defending herself from the Islamo-Nazi onslaught of Hezbollah, is a recipe for disaster.
Thank you, Mr. President, for all you’ve done to destroy the nuclear capacity of the Islamo-Nazi state of Iran.
However, your plan, at least as publicly presented thus far, will end in disaster.
Most important for American interests is that China is watching, and they know that if you can’t do anything to defend the Strait of Hormuz, then the Strait of Taiwan will be a breeze for them.
Mr. President, there is a gathering storm, and it’s starting to seem as if you don’t understand that the weather is about to change drastically… Oh, and by the way, signing at the Palace of Versailles is not a great omen.
WWWS… What Would Winston Say?
