FROM BASTOGNE TO BIDEN: AN AMERICAN TRAGEDY | AMERICAN HERO TO AMERICAN ZERO PART II
Vol. I | Issue. 22 | August 23, 2021
Above almost all else, courage and persistence in the face of adversity have been the traits most admired by America at large and Americans individually since the inception of our Republic.
Courage comes in many forms but is most readily exemplified and described where life and limb are at stake. There are so many forms of quiet unsung courage performed by everyday people, in their everyday lives, who we never hear about. I suppose that is simply because they just don't make for the most dramatic stories, or because citizens living "ordinary lives" are destined to be unsung heroes.
However, there do seem to be endless accounts of stories regarding courage on the battlefield. Some are true, some false, and many hover in-between. Those that stand the test of time are more likely to be true due to their time-tested scrutiny and analysis. Here is one of the sickening stories of perfidy, failed courage, and national dishonor: That is the currently unfolding tragedy in Afghanistan fueled by the incompetence, dishonesty, lack of character, and predictable failure of Joe Biden, President of The United States.
But first, let’s talk about BASTOGNE…
After the brilliantly successful invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, the Allied supply lines were overextended. While the conventional thinking was that Hitler was kaput and that the Allied forces would easily smash through what remained of the Nazi lines over the Rhine and through the Nazi’s final defensive Sigfried line, Adolph had a surprise for them. He mounted a completely unanticipated offensive through the dense and seemingly unpassable Ardennes Forest. This offensive which came to be known as the Battle of the Bulge was launched on December 16, 1944. It was named so because Nazi reconnaissance found a weak point in the Allied lines which was a wide bulge along the 85-mile front providing them an opportunity for their breakthrough point to Antwerp.
The Nazi objective was to capture the City of Antwerp, Belgium, and its port, to prevent the Allies from replenishing their supplies and sprinting through Belgium into Germany, putting an end to Hitler’s sick orgy known as the Third Reich. The Nazi orgy was supposed to last for a thousand years, it lasted twelve.
In order to achieve their objective, the Nazis needed to do one simple thing or so they thought. They needed to capture the town of BASTOGNE which was the strategic crossroads leading to their objective.
In December of 1944, all roads did not lead to Rome, they led to BASTOGNE.
Allied Forces, commanded by Brigadier General Anthony McAuliffe, were outnumbered 5-1 by the Nazis, were low on food, ammunition and by any reasonable measure, hope.
On December 22, 1944, commanding Nazi General Von Luttwitx, send the following message to General McAuliffe:
“To the U. S. A. Commander of the encircled town of Bastogne.
The fortune of war is changing. This time the U. S. A. forces in and near Bastogne have been encircled by strong German armored units. More German armored units have crossed the river Ourthe near Ortheuville, have taken Marche, and reached St. Hubert by passing through Hompres-Sibret-Tillet. Libramont is in German hands.
There is only one possibility to save the encircled U. S. A. Troops from total annihilation: that is the honorable surrender of the encircled town. In order to think it over a term of two hours will be granted beginning with the presentation of this note.
If this proposal should be rejected the German Artillery Corps and six heavy A. A. Battalions are ready to annihilate the U. S. A. Troops in and near Bastogne. The order for firing will be given immediately after this two-hour’s term.
All the serious civilian losses caused by this Artillery fire would not correspond with the well-known American humanity.”
Immediately Upon receiving the Nazi Message, McAuliffe sent one in return to the German Commander.
“To the German Commander:
N U T S !
The American Commander”
While it is hard to believe that is actually what he said, I guess we will have to take history at her word. But what that one word really spoke to was America, American courage, honor, sacrifice, and determination to get the job done at all costs.
Despite the carnage and tragic loss of American life, the cavalry (literally) came through General Patton’s army, the weather cleared, the town was held, and the twisted dream of a Nazi breakthrough was thwarted. Bastogne was saved, and Hitler was ultimately destroyed.
Now let's move on to our discussion of America’s descent into dishonor, loss of credibility, and disgrace. The sole and exclusive responsibility for this fiasco rests upon the shoulders of Joseph Robinette Biden, the 46th President of The United States.
Biden has shown throughout his career to be an inveterate liar, plagiarizer, and man of no accomplishment, except for his vacuous occupation of high office for the past 49 years.
A recent story in the London Daily Mail revealed captured reports from Bin Laden’s deathbed lair in Pakistan, uncovering a letter from Bin Laden to an Al Queda operative forbidding the assassination of Joe Biden. Bin Laden’s logic was apparently that were Obama to be assassinated, Biden as President would lead American to ruin. In other words, Bin Laden, the Don of Terrorism, was bound and determined to keep Biden Alive.
Discussions regarding whether and when we should have left, or should be leaving Afghanistan, are beyond the scope of this writing. The question here is how this ignominious exit is being effectuated.
Biden and his collection of mostly Ivy League dummies, with one notable West Point graduate and military careerist, Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III, have elected to do so in a manner that is without regard for Americans who are trapped there, tied to an arbitrary timeframe in handing off treasure troves of intelligence to the Taliban and our strategic adversary China that will make America fundamentally less safe and secure immediately.
Biden and his minions of incompetents, aided and abetted by The American Pravda, have lied publicly regarding every aspect of this shameful exit. They don’t even know how many Americans are left in the country.
Worst of all, is perhaps that Biden and his merry band of the unconcerned fools, including the chuckling Kamala Harris, have relied on the good graces and their negotiations with murderous terrorists, sometimes even calling them “Taliban Counterparts” rather than utilizing the immense capabilities of the US military to optimally extract all of our people to safety. Biden has bathed America in dishonor and humiliation at every level throughout this process, and the damage has only just begun.
General McAullife, you were an American Hero.
Biden, you are and always have been an American Zero.
Cutting, and running with your special brand of dishonor is a disgrace. You do not represent The American Way, but a tragic reality of American life in 2021.
