SIGMUND FREUD: DESTROYER OF "PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY" THAT GAVE THE LEFT THEIR BAG OF TRICKS... HE LOVED DRUGS & SEX, BUT MISSED ROCK-N-ROLL
Vol. I | Issue. 85 | April 28, 2022
There is a broad consensus in the “academic community” that Sigmund Freud (1856-1939), Father of Psychotherapy, Cocaine Addict, and Sexual Abuser of his Psychiatric Patients, along with Marxism and Darwinism, has had more influence on the collective thought in the 20th Century than any other single cultural/intellectual figure.
Freud, in his comprehensive efforts to map the human psyche, developed the idea that it was the unconscious and subconscious that governed all human behavior.
Freud was the original Psychobabalist who had many bad habits. Between his drug addiction to cocaine (supposedly developed in the name of science), believing it to be a therapeutic wonder drug, and his obsession with sexuality in his practice and preaching, it is astonishing that this “Dr. Strangelove” was ever taken seriously… but he was, and the world has never been the same.
The most pernicious and lasting Freudian Cultural Impact on America and Western Civilization was the elimination of personal responsibility from the calculus in the evaluation of all antisocial, and criminal behavior. Essentially, it boils down to the determinist vs free will argument of Human Behavior. With Freud, determinism always wins out… Nobody is personally responsible for anything.
Boiled down to their essential elements, Freud’s theories are that emotional deprivation, dating back to infancy, immutably shapes later life behaviors to the point where the impacted person justifiably has no control over their actions. And there’s the rub... The complete exoneration of all actions and behaviors that can be even remotely connected to a less than perfect childhood.
The perversity of Freud’s thinking has taken roughly 100 years to reach its current apex of complete forgiveness, and no prosecution of the most heinous criminal acts, but here we are.
The idea that the punishment should fit the crime no longer applies. At this sad juncture, it is not the crime that is considered regarding the punishment calculus, it is the criminal.
It goes something like this:
… He didn’t commit murder! That was a justified act of self-defense based upon the understandable rage from the legacy of slavery, racism, and capitalism. There will be no prison time. He is the victim, and he will be sentenced to time served. That is…Time served living in a Racist America for his entire life! Sorry Mister, you are free to go...
Until the foundation of people taking personal responsibility for their actions is restored, our America will never be a safe, secure, healthy, and generally productive society.
But the Left loves Sigmund…Why? Because the abdication of personal responsibility has created a vast reservoir of sanctioned social and moral upheaval that canonizes the perpetrators of Crime, Hatred of America, and Civil Order all because their “mommy didn’t love them enough”.
Sigmund, it took a century, but you finally did it… Your sexcapades and coke-induced ideas have nearly eradicated the concept of personal responsibility from the earth. At least you had fun doing it… My only regret is that you missed Rock & Roll.

Interesting take. I certainly agree with you in some respects and disagree in others. Freud certainly had his influence on the left, but I think you’re giving him more weight than he deserves. I think that they borrowed Freudian concepts and mixed them with Marx, Kant, and the writings of the Frankfurt school generally to come up with the current dogma that’s plaguing the left side of the aisle. However, the natural result of what has happened is that the extreme left is going to eat its own tail. You simply cannot have numerous classes of people competing to be the most oppressed without each faction turning on others. Case and point are the classes that are “white adjacent.” Suddenly, the “oppressor” class is expanding. Only time will tell if this is correct in the long run. Great column though. I’m looking forward to reading more.
